Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Thursday that the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) has been a complete success, marked by the unanimous adoption of two key documents: the Beijing Declaration and the Action Plan. He also highlighted the summit's main achievements in four areas.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, made the remarks during a meeting with the press alongside Yacine Fall, foreign minister of Senegal, and Jean-Claude Gakosso, minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of the Congo.

Wang Yi outlined the achievements, starting with the elevation of bilateral relations between China and all African countries with diplomatic ties to the level of strategic relations. He also noted that the overall characterization of China-Africa relations has been upgraded to an "all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era."

Additionally, six major proposals were put forward to advance China-Africa modernization, and a blueprint for action was mapped out to guide cooperation between the two sides in the next phase.

Wang Yi emphasized that both China and Africa conducted strategic alignments on the international situation and global governance during the summit, agreeing to firmly support each other on issues concerning their core interests, defend the rightful interests of developing countries, and promote international fairness and justice.

In summary, the summit has sent a strong message of China and Africa's joint pursuit of development, demonstrating firm confidence in the unity and cooperation of the Global South, the minister concluded.
